Week 5 Questions (Davis)
Morley (2000) describes an ongoing academic uneasiness with interdisciplinary cultural studies. What’s the temperature in 2025? Excluding broader criticism from outside the university, it seems that cultural studies as a discipline is, academically, the least controversial it has ever been.
I think Giroux (2000) is a little vague about what it might look like to incorporate something like the concept of articulation into our classrooms. What do we think it means to do so? What does it look like to grant “meaning to the resources students bring with them” and submit “the specificities of such meanings to broader interrogations and public dialogue” (p. 143)?
